The genius of contemporary fashion who created and shaped the very figure of the Creative Director . Karl Lagerfeld's approach is not limited to the application of fashion within a collection, but goes beyond, creating a world that gravitates around the maison he puts under the lens.

His vision helped broaden and extend the scope of influence of fashion itself, embracing every other sector, from celebrities to fine art, bringing a touch of audacity, freshness and irreverence.

As soon as he entered the Chanel house, he managed to combine the spirit of the times with the original tailoring of the “ total look ” - a concept created by Coco Chanel herself - in which the individual items of clothing are less important than the accessories with which they are adorned or enriched.

He designed more than a dozen collections a year for three fashion houses whose aesthetics could not have been more dissimilar – Chanel, Fendi and his eponymous brand – and was the only designer to present haute couture and haute fourrure collections in Paris during every single collection season.

He has often moved behind the lens, photographing and directing advertising campaigns for the fashion houses under his creative direction or signing fashion editorials for the most prestigious magazines. He has been an enthusiastic partner who pioneered the phenomenon of collaborations between fast-fashion and luxury designers by creating a collection for H&M in 2004 or putting his stylistic talents at the service of a series of brands – from Steiff stuffed animals to Steinway grand pianos.

He was even the owner of a bookstore in Paris. Among his various roles, one cannot fail to mention that of owner of Choupette, the Burmese cat as a faithful companion in the last years of his life.
